The main difference I have seen over the old old card is in maya, 3dscan processing and mudbox where it doesn't miss a beat with 10's of millions of poly.
That reminded me I need to get motivation and get back into modeling lol..
Where can I buy a bucket full of motivation lol well need a skip full at this moment in time.

reason behind this is that it performs nearly as good as a 1080 (standard) and a bit cheaper..
It is getting delivered tomorrow so can not wait to see how fast it processes my 3D photo scans... (sshhhh...(whispers) can not wait to see how it improves gaming) lol...

I think you'll get the most bang-for-your-buck with the Nvidia card update at this time, to be frank. There's a huge difference going from the 760 to the 1060. HUGE! It was a pretty decent difference going from the 960 I had to the 1070.

Believe it or not I can play most games on high quality some even on ultra on this old card..
I think I will upgrade the video card (GTX 1060) instead of the CPU (Ryzen 7 2700) i can always upgrade the CPU at a different date.. put it on my Christmas list my ex might get me it lol (she bought this computer for me last year lol).
Theres always some bloody thing to buy for computers..

From a graphics professional point of view, on most of the forums where I frequent (mainly 3D development software forums) more developers seem to be using the Nvidia based cards. But, frankly, EITHER of the two will be a huge step up for you going from that older GTX 760.
If you do go with the Ryzen card, remember to use a utility to COMPLETELY uninstall the graphics drivers before installing the appropriate ones for your card.
