I have watched both videos, and i shall start with the first one.
1) i see that all softwares are working fine even while video recording, but as i mentioned before. It is skylines fault as the renderer takes a while to kick back in, we will have a look and see if we can improve the speed for the render window to start up again.
This area has not had a great deal of work.
2) The shadow problem is because of using a point light, which we have not yet developed yet apart from the lighting, To render shadows for a point light, you have to project in 6 directions, whereas a spotlight and directional only project in 1. Which makes these lights much more effecient in a scene for rendering.
The game bioshock only used spotlights due to the technical troubles of using point lights.
Plus because we have not combined our forward and deferred renderer, we cannot have an unlimited amount of lights in forward mode, which means placing 2 or more lights really cripples the frame rate.
