Graphics: Asus GTX 760 2 GB
MotherBoard: MSI B350 TOMAHAWK Artic (AM4)
RAM: 24GB dual channel 2666MHz DDR4 Dram
System Drive: M.2 275GB
Other Drives total: 4 GB

I am probably not the best person to advise on this as I don't know much about the Ryzen cards. Personally, I've used Nvidia cards for quite some time now and have always been pleased with the results. I push them hard, too, both with playing games (all at Ultra settings) and in developing both 2D and 3D computer graphics.

From a graphics professional point of view, on most of the forums where I frequent (mainly 3D development software forums) more developers seem to be using the Nvidia based cards. But, frankly, EITHER of the two will be a huge step up for you going from that older GTX 760.

If you do go with the Ryzen card, remember to use a utility to COMPLETELY uninstall the graphics drivers before installing the appropriate ones for your card.

Thanks guys..

Believe it or not I can play most games on high quality some even on ultra on this old card.. :)

I think I will upgrade the video card (GTX 1060) instead of the CPU (Ryzen 7 2700) i can always upgrade the CPU at a different date.. put it on my Christmas list my ex might get me it lol (she bought this computer for me last year lol).

Theres always some bloody thing to buy for computers..

AH! I wasn't paying attention! Crap! You were debating between a CPU upgrade and a GPU upgrade! I was thinking, for some strange reason, you were between an AMD VIDEO card and Nvidia. Sorry, man. I need to pay more attention or at least have some coffee before posting. I feel like an idiot now. ;)

I think you'll get the most bang-for-your-buck with the Nvidia card update at this time, to be frank. There's a huge difference going from the 760 to the 1060. HUGE! It was a pretty decent difference going from the 960 I had to the 1070.

I agree. The best option is the GPU upgrade. CPU advancements have been pretty stale for the most part these past few years. But GPU advancements have been pretty steady. So, I think you will be good with the GPU upgrade.

And while I know it's more money, I would seriously consider at least bumping up the GPU to a 1070.

The latest cards are really expensive plus i am seeing the RTX as a hype thing at the moment to generate revenue. I agree it looks beautiful, however i feel that large numbers of people need to own them for them to make sense commercially for software to focus on otherwise it becomes specialised. Performance wise, the price hike for a medium gain is just overkill especially when the average gamer seems to be 1080p still and the 10 series cards run them really well and will do for another few years.

5 years from now and i do believe ray tracing will be close to becoming very mainstream to all gaming audience :P
