Shadow Shader

Shadow Shader

Postby TattieBoJangle » 05 Jul 2016, 18:09

I was having a play around as I am trying to trick skyline into thinking the camera angle is different, the reason I want this is when looking at something its shadows are all speckle like and looks bad but when looking down it looks great.

So I know the shadows can look great depending on the camera angle so would it be possible to change the camera or even the shader into thinking the camera is always at this angle has anyone looked at anything like this in skyline ?

Hey Tattie,
I would recommend waiting for the DX11 release...There is supposed to be significant changes for lights and shadows...I am not experienced enough in shaders to help with this one...I am not sure what is causing the speckle effect...If I run across a solution, I will let you know...CO
Thanks, CreativeOcclusion

Oh the shadow, nasty little bug that is.
We have tried many shader tricks but it is looking like the is something wrong at the render shadow camera code. We have found a fix for the pssm shadows but this would reduce the terrain paint layers by 1 layer also there is a performance hit although you guys with big rigs would not notice
So basically waiting for the new Skyline Gen2 which has shadows that will give you chills :D
