v 0.64 material hangs up

Hi
trying to put material on my imported model:

right click in the scene where my selected object is, then edit material,
empty slot diffuse -> load -> pick a 2048x2048 .jpg or .tga -> then skyline editor don't respond anymore.

tried with a 1024x1024 with no luck

hi, it sounds like the material has not been converted to an advanced material yet.
You can create an advanced material by following the steps below:

  • Import Model.
  • Right click edit material.
  • Press save material.
  • Then load your texture.

We are going to be improving the material editor so this doesnt happen and that advanced materials are always generated.
This should help :D

Even if you have a button that says "Create Advanced Material", would make it clearer to new users

@iamcheeseontoast: this would be good, but doing it when the material ins't converted on material editor load will save many crashes lol. :D

Doing it automatically - Would this mean the mat editor would create the advanced mat everytime. Or would it check to see if its a advanced mat first. This would be fine if its all fast enough.

If the material is already an advanced material, then it wont bug you. But if the material is incompatible with the material editor or if the material is a basic material, then it will offer to convert the material into an advanced material without the awkward workflow of saving first. :D
