Is there a way to get the shadows to use alpha for like plants trees ect.
Case: CM Storm Trooper CPU: I7 5930k X99 Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Graphics: Asus GTX 1080 Motherboard: Rampage Extreme V x99 Ram: RipJaws DDR4 3000mhz Storage: x2 SSD Crucial 500GB + x5 2TB Hdd PSU: Evga 1500w OS: Windows 10

Are you using the Advanced or Uber shader?

Uber instantly makes alpha shadows if reject is turned on, whereas the base material requires a tweak if i remember...

Alpha Smooth will not cast shadows though, only rejection does.

using Advanced with reject.

it looks like we aren't applying the shadow caster to the material.

Open the material editor and click on the little script icon in the bottom.
This will open the material file itself.

in the material MyMaterial_adv : Base_Multilight_V1_AlphaReject
You should see lots of set properties.

Add this line to the bottom of those:
Code: Select all
set $shadowCasterMaterial "DesertGrass02_ShadowCaster"


replace the name of the shadowcaster material with the one in the top of the material file.
IT will be the material name with a "_ShadowCaster" on the end.

Save the material
Reload the sceneEntity.

I will make the files write this out by default now :) This will be in the next release.
