Has Anyone Heard from the Developers?

Postby monkeyfrogstudio » 08 May 2023, 18:35

Hello. Has anyone heard from the developers in any fashion? I've tried both here (over a year ago) and email (much more recently) and have gotten no reply at all. Does anyone know if they are okay? I suppose it well past time to assume that Skyline is officially defunct.

Hey buddy,

Yeah, looks like Skyline is dead :(

I've seen a few posts on FB from StarFire but they are all in relation to their music (CHI-A.D. - some sort of dance music - I think they call it Goa Trance or something?)

I know they put a lot of work into Skyline, but it's still a shame they didn't open-source it, or at least allow a few 'trusted' devs access to the code, so we could have kept it alive

As for me, I've moved on to Godot now (always hated Unity and couldn't be bothered to learn the 'free' AAA engines) and Godot is pythonesque (one of my fave programming languages) ;)

It's a shame. They could have at least said something here to all of us, letting us know.

I've moved on to GameGuru MAX. Yes, surprisingly, despite the past of that company, the current iteration actually has a lot of potential. And for a non-programmer like me, I can do a heck of a lot with the program.

Yeah, would have been nice if they'd announced it properly :(

I tried GameGuru a few years ago (probably around the time I picked Skyline as my go to engine?), but it just didn't have enough freedom for me to create what I wanted. I'm more into odd-ball games, such as recreating unknown board games or a music game that I've had on the backburner for way to long, or Yahtzee in Z80 Assembler :ugeek:

Anyway, good luck in the future.

PS: I'll probably check back in here from time to time, just in case.....
