Clipping plane

Clipping plane

Postby TattieBoJangle » 26 Apr 2015, 22:46

Today i was messing about with the clipping plane far and i like the way it fades stuff in and out but is there anyway to make the skybox always visible as this is great for performance.

cool. I didn't think it faded lol ;)
I am guessing that you are using fog for fading?

When the far clip distance is lower than the skybox distance, it starts to clip the skybox.
This is currently a bug inside skyline. i am not sure if a fix will make it in for this release though as we are about to call an internal code freeze until the release is finished.

Yea i have it setup as a person can only see so far then on to fog as you said its a good way to save some fps :)

But at least its a bug and can be fixed so im happy with that :)

i have made a minor tweak to this.
Since the skybox is always rendered first. I have lowered the distance it is rendered from 500 to 50.
This stops any clipping problems, but may cause some artifacts. We will see in the next release.
At least it is there all the time.
