There is a plane of water in skyline that can be used to do this its good as it allows you to move it about and it doesn't use much fps also :) cant remember where to find it but its in there someplace

In you Asset manager under Presets/Nature/Water...There are some drag in preset water...These would work good for lakes...I believe that they(The Devs) have a river system planned to add later....The preset water can be scaled to fit your watering hole...many adjustments can be made in the properties...for size of waves, speed ect...Hope this helps...CO

There should be better water shaders coming in the future...But these work pretty good...

Yes we have planned to get one of new current water shaders and this is going to be quite early on as the new renderer version has no ocean. These new water shaders will then be the basis of a future river and ocean system. ;)

will this new water thing include buoyancy so we can have a few barrels or crates floating around or maybe a small boat?

i wrote a bouyancy volume a while back that will apply an upwards force with variable bouyancy and you can find it in the
"Asset Library\Presets\Skyline Scene Types\Physics Volumes\Physics Bouyancy Volume.xPreset".
Position and scale to fit your water area :)

There is also a tech demo in:
"Asset Library\Scenes\Tech Demos\Physics\Physics_Bouyancy.xSkyScene"
Skyline Game Engine - Lead Dev.
Please provide as much info as possible when asking for help.
