Yes, you can by clicking on the texture in the list and pressing the button next to diffuse texture. You can change the normal map aswell,

At the moment, there are only 5 layers available, we are looking to support more. :P

Here is the official video tutorials page:

Hope this helps :D

Sorry I was't very clear, that only loads a new texture and paints it exactly where the old one was painted. I created a map in L3dt ( a terrain generating program ) and exported the heightmap and 5 layer maps (blend maps). What I am wanting to do is import the layer maps which are simlar to the heightmap ie greyscale png files, these maps show where the texture is to be painted. One of the layers is a pathway. It's not that important but would save a lot of time working out where the pathway is to run.

i see, we don't yet support the feature of loading a texture that designates where the texture will be painted.
This is something we could look at sooner for you, rather than later.
I will download L3DT and see if i can sort something out. :D

As for your path, we do have a road system which carves through the terrain to make it smooth.
This tool can also be used to create small paths and make them smooth enough to walk on.

Edit:
if you have any files that i could use for testing, then it would save some time and allow me to get straight to programming. :P
