I don't think that GameGuru MAX is actually a "direct competitor" of Skyline. While both are game engines, they both have a very different game making philosophy. GGMAX is restricted to First Person games only, for example. With Skyline you can make any sort of game or application you like - FPS, third person, strategy, card game, an application that is not a game at all, and more. GGMAX is very, very restricted in it's scope - and it's early access release in March will only feature FPS games. Skyline is more inline with Unreal, Unity, S2, and other game engines that allow you full creative freedom in creating a game. While there will be some overlap between the two (just like there is overlap between GGMAX and the other game engines mentioned), I don't really see GGMAX and Skyline as direct competitors (not any more than Unreal and Unity are any more direct competitors). GGMAX is more in it's own category than, I would say. ;)

S2 hobby engine with alot of bugs, Flax engine similar as Unreal and Unity. GGMAX - constructor type of engine as Skyline. Well I liked this engine the most his logic is simply magnificent, but version 1 is outdated and has bugs and for v2 update logs are not frequent, there is no persistence.

Regardless - it's a full-featured engine, made for the purpose of making any kind of game.

Also, you mention that GameGuru MAX is a direct competitor with Skyline - talk about a HOBBY engine that is full of bugs! Yes, I have a license, installed on my computer, and am reporting bugs in GitHub. It's ... buggy as ... all get out. So, there's that. ;)

Very true, though the licensing is different than both, if you plan to actually publish a game. It's not a bad license, though.

Not true. At all. Skyline does have this ability. But Skyline is not at all limited to this. Not in the least. Why do you want to limit Skyline to this sort of an engine? Skyline is in the same league as Unity, Unreal, and Flax. You can literally build any sort of game you like. You are not limited to constructing a game out of parts you are provided. You don't have to use the visual scripting engine, though even that is not intended to be limited as you can fully script the engine via LUA to your heart's content, creating any sort of game or app you like. It is NOT a constructor engine in the least. The "constructor" part is provided for people who want to create games but may not have the full capabilities to do so. But for others who do, they can go full-steam ahead and create games as they please from scratch. This is not strictly possible with an engine like GameGuru MAX. With GameGuru MAX there is zero support for third-person games, zero support for tactical strategy games, zero support for anything other than FPS games. That's it. Not so with Skyline. You can literally create any game you like ... and even apps that aren't games if you like. Not sure why you are stuck on forcing Skyline into a mold it's not meant to be put into.

Anyway okay, it's not ggm just if the creators went to steam, gumroad, itch.io. actually, I didn't compare it, it's just the first thing that came to my mind when I first launched S. It's just that little is known about the engine, and I accidentally found it while going over the all of engines. Twitter developer is not updated, there are no youtube reviews, and several articles on sites dedicated to game development

Patience. They will announce when it is available. Life happens and sometimes things slow us down. We are also living in a world with a pandemic that causes things to happen that we cannot account for.

Hi StarFire,
i'm very excited. I have one question, hope that's okay for you to answer:
How will the 3D characters with animations be imported? This is an important thing for me, because i can't handle mecanim in unity right now. For me it's the easiest way to put in the frames manually.
I tested the v1.0 lite a long time ago, that's why i'm still interested in using the skyline engine instead of unreal or unity.
Thanks for never give up skyline engine even in the hard times.

You can manually add anims from the editor or auto load the separate files on main model load. :D

Yes, I update your site every day. It's not normal anymore version 1 crashes for me, so I'm waiting beta 2. Should we expect a release before St. Patrick's Day?
