Terrain Road Editor Updates

After a while of working with vertexes, we now have a generated road with normals and tangents in the correct way.
This allows lighting and Normalmaps to be applied.

The Road is made using a set of nodes which generate a spline curve.
Here is a screenshot of the road generated round a hill.

The yellow lines are the vertex normals and the vertex tangents are the green lines.

The material applied is a POM Map with a simple texture and Displacement map that really make it pop!

Hey Guys, the road editor has evolved some more. :D

  • The nodes now move the road based on the spline path.
  • Material support now added, you change the diffuse, normals and specular maps in the road editor.
  • 3 Base materials that the road material inherits from, these are OcclusionDispMapping, Base_Advanced, Base_Advanced_Alpha.
  • By the click of a button you can deform the terrain to the nodes positions, which allows you to do cool things like this.

Heres and update screenshot of the road editor,
After a lot of work trying to blend the alpha of the road texture onto the terrain there has been success, we can now use an alpha blend (gradiented alpha not on/off alpha). :D

we hope so, the alpha on the road was one of the biggest jobs, now that is solved, the road editor can be finalized for a release version.
There is still a lot to do for the road editor, but its development is going well. :D

For my games i have been wanting to work on, the road system in . : S K Y L I N E : . is supreme! :D :shock: :D

Pleaaaase make a step by step how to achomplish the two road types in your screenshots ( dirt/rocky and asphault road )

That would rule for quickly setting up all kinds of courses in a racing game i'd like to give a go for as well :idea:
