Preparing for next release 0.8.2

Preparing for next release 0.8.2

Postby StarFire » 08 Sep 2014, 16:10

We are putting together a new Skyline release package which will include the new long awaited FBX tool set which has simplified getting your assets into Skyline. This includes the new animation splitter and other tools to get your character up and running quickly.

We have been working on the sensor/AI/Combat system so now you can chase and shoot the NPC or be shot at! There will be a few new demos on the AI Sensor and game combat.

This package will be a full release to new users and also be provided as an auto update to existing users ;)

This and many more fixes will be available very soon, we will announce the release in this forum once it is ready :D

Have a great day :D

Nice! Hoping this means we'll be able to import custom foliage via FBX. Purchased a license for Forester Pro (cheap Speedtree alternative) months back that has export presets for many engines including FBX pipeline with animation data.

Definitely looking forward to the update.

@Rat: just trying out the forest pack, looks very good. Just need to get some of the assets to ensure they import into Skyline easily ;)

We managed to get the Skyline FBX importer to open the Unity FBX version of Forester and it looks good in Skyline. It is a simple export from the Forester application and drag drop into the Skyline scene. All textures, meshes and materials are created automatically so all you need to do is to create the advanced material (we will probably make this an option so advanced materials will be made automatically). Again this is a simple 2 step process then everything looks great. Here is a super quick scene straight out of Forester(trees n flowers) and Medusa(rocks) :
