Demo Scene Start of a 3D Platform Game (lua) [GEN2 ONLY]
Due to demand I have released this early and is needing completing but it does work

Introduction
This is going to be the start point of the tutorial series that I will be putting together, this is a basic scene designed for new users so they can slowly adjust to the workflow of the Skyline Game Engine, the next level will get more in depth with assigning materials and editing the materials using the material editor.

What this demo teaches:
Main Things it teaches:
  • Placing basic geometry onto a scene.
  • To create physics related triggers.
  • To create a death trigger - delete spawned presets
  • To spawn in presets if it does not exist in the scene
  • Give a spawned in preset a Tag so it can be referenced in other scripts.
  • Add a Physics Ridged Body to the spawned preset
  • To use a trigger to open a door
  • To make a lift (elevator), that constantly moves (easy to adapt)
  • To use Spot lights to make a beacon (to be finished in the next update of this scene).
  • To write UI to the screen using triggers.
  • To climb a ladder without editing the player script (LUA)
  • To load the next scene
  • To move the player within the scene (will update to respawn the player on KO (death) on the next update of this scene).

Secondry things:
  • House keeping of the entity list (keeping it tidy).
  • By viewing this scene you will under stand how micro scripts attach to entities.
  • The importance of TAG and ID for identifying assets.
  • Using basic geometry to help create a scene.
  • Creating instances from an object (copying an object).
  • To place a Health pickup (you have to find it..).

In the next update to this scene
In the next update to this scene will be:

  • Kill the player and re-spawn
  • Spawning the player at the beginning of the game.
  • Placing a turret to shoot at the player.
  • A new video with all the information you need for this scene

Next episode of this series

In the next episode we will be:
  • Placing objects in the scene.
  • Assigning materials to objects in the scene.
  • Editing materials with the Material editor.
  • Placing the FPS Kit Zombie and adjusting the settings.
  • Getting zombies to patrol an area.
  • Using a trigger to release zombies from a room, then look for the player.
  • and more.

The scene has been upgraded before upload (was created in Gen2 when it first came for testing) so it should run fine but can take some time if the system starts upgrading it again.

Also a draft Video is available here (needs doing again when updated the scene)

I'm passing by.
Good work epsilonion but
- You waste video space the capture is centered and around there is lot of black.
- Display of code and editor is useless, at 720P, jumping to 1080p we can barely see code it is unreadable (you should zoom on code when coding and editor when doing 3D)
See the difference how code and 3D are readable at 720p

Like it says above the video. It's the draft version and will be replaced what more can I say?

It shows what my teaching style is and for that reason alone is why I made it, it has also highlighted that my new studio microphone needs tweaking and that I need more acoustic board to drowned out the sound of the fans on my computer.

It is a fully old one because it is Full HD 1080p on YouTube but 720p here hmm strange lol...

It will be updated when the documentation is closer to completion, the guides that are a WIP are coming along nicely.

Edit: Edited to include more information and clean up the post.

I think its been explained well enough that its a draft.. notice the big lettering etc lol.

I have to ask you something spidermack.. are you trolling for the sake of it?, because to any1 not trolling its kind of obvious that this is a 1st step video and such.. that's being worked on epsilonion is kind enough to do these for people (vids docs and more) with his free time as and when he gets it.

I would suggest perhaps maybe you keep negative opinions about other users free time projects to yourself more often than you have so far in your short time here please.
constructive criticism is 1 thing, outright rudeness and needless rudeness is another!!..
