Hello!

Hi there,

I just found Skyline this weekend and got captivated... Hope to do something cool with this little gem soon. It runs a lil bit laggy and it crashes sometimes, but I guess it's because the beta stage. The first impression was very good (only spent a couple of hours so far BTW) but all in all I think it's very promising. :)

I've downloaded the free version and exported a game template, just to check the size of the game once exported. When I try to launch it, it asks for the player download, but I can't download it. I says that I can find the download link in the website but I couldn't find it... any clues? Maybe there was a big button and I couldn't see it because it was too big... XD

Thanks in advance!

My specs: Windows 10 - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz - 16 Gb ram DDR4 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 Gb

Hello and welcome planetx they are working on gen 2 that is much better than gen 1 on looks and performance I feel the stability in the latest version is much better also. Not sure if the free version has been upgraded in a while as they have been flat out with version 2 so I can help with the export I'm afraid.

That being said I look forward to seeing what you can do with skyline if you keep at it.

Hey. Welcome to the forums.

I can not say about the player download but I can say that skyline generation 2 is been alpha tested and it is a lot more stable and the features it boasts like pbr etc are worth the wait.

I for one can not wait for the release of gen2, then there's the gui editor rewrite. Rtt and loads more fixes, etc, etc.

I am a big fan of skyline myself and half of the thing that I love is not just the software but also the friendliness of the development team and the contributing users. It's a community in its own right..

I hope you enjoy skyline and if you have any other issues then just post them on the forum .

Hi and Welcome to the forums planetX :D

Glad to hear you have had a positive experience with Skyline and thank you for seeing the potential of the engine and as Tattie mentions, Gen2 is in development with a hopeful beta for users soon in the next couple month.

What hardware are you using? I am curious due to you mentioning the software running a bit laggy :)

As for the Player download; we were not aware that the free version exported games were not working.
May i ask what version of skyline you are running. This can be found in the editors main menu at "Help > About" menu option and will say it in the top right of the opened dialog.

Look forward to hearing back from you :)

Hi And Welcome to Skyline planetX

Great to hear that you are enjoying your first impressions with Skyline. If the free version is getting you interested, then what we have in store for you on the new Gen2 should keep you going for some months to come. ;)

Gen 2 is currently in private alpha, but we are letting users who purchased gen1 a sneek peek. Skyline Gen2 will be entering a public beta in the not too distant future. Just getting a few more features ready and bit more work on bugs, but hey.. nearly there! ;)

Hi, thanks for quick reply!

I have the last free version of Skyline, I guess. Downloaded yesterday from the website. This is what I get when launching the exported game:

My specs are:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
- 16 Gb ram DDR4
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 Gb

Glad to hear the next gen is on the way. I'll keep digging a little bit more on this, still reading the docs...

There are a few good docs on Skyline, Liam has written a few great guides and Tatty has made some great videos.
We are always here to offer any help and to answer any questions you may have :)

@SolarPortal is looking for a copy for you and so that other free version users can get their export working too. We did assume that it was working as no one has mentioned it :?

@PlanetX, Hi, We managed to find an older version of the game file and have uploaded them. Please try running your game again and it should download the player :) Hopefully everything should work but the player was pulled from the backup system so we are unsure if it will match the free version exactly, but i dont see why not.

P.s. The grey block in the bottom left of the screen is usually for the "free version watermark" which must be missing from the player which we must have missed. Its quite late here tonight so i will try and find time to update the installer with some new files to resolve this :)
