Motherboard

Ok so off topic. Just treated myself to a new Samsung SSD 840 pro which is great, BUT,,,

Didnt notice my motherboard is only Sata 2.

Anyone suggest a good motherboard for the above. I will upgrade my old I7 as well. Needs to have 3 channel memory though, dont want to have to buy another 12Gig.

Hi Bill,
Our dev machines are intel core i7 3770 3.4ghz Ivybridge.

The motherboard we are running is the Gigabyte Z77-D3H, i believe this is only 2 channel :(
You might find something along this line though.

We are using DDR3 2x4gb Ram.

Hope this helps a little.

Looked more into and found all seem to be 2 channel, however I didnt want to change my existing 12gig due to cost. But memory isnt as dear as it was when i bought mine. So willl look into it

your I7s and motherboard i think is the way for me to go. Have had a few gigabyte boards and never had any issues

Why is there so many to choose from. from £50 up to£500 argh. Think i need to list what i actually need, lol.

@Toast: Great to you up and running again!

Yes SSD is the way to go, we look forward to the day we can have fast loading but the price will have to come down a little first ;)

yeah I agree on the prices but they will fall.
I only ever used a 250Gig drive as my C drive anyway. 256gig 840 pro is a dear one at £200 but it was meant to be my own xmas present.

Was gonna have to buy a new mother board and i had an original I7 so just decided what the hell. One of ther perks of being single....
