Wow, this gen2 is great guys, Here's a gif of a scene
The gif does run smoother but takes time to load because it is a big file.

1. Make a video of your scene (I use bandicam).
2. Visit http://ezgif.com/maker
3. Upload your video and select settings.
4. Download the gif.
5. Upload to web host and link to it on the forum using the image tags

This above is the easiest way.

Through Photoshop

1. Open Photoshop.
2. File >Import >Video frames to layers (can take a while on low spec computers).
3. In the opened dialouge box check that make frame animation is checked.
You can also select to limit to 2,3,4 frames if the gif file is massive (mine was 36 MB)
4. file >Save for web
5. Select your preset and click save.

you can also do them from Movie in windows.. :D

woop woop... Finally, its living up to the expectation haha :P
... Wipes sweat of forehead ...

Gen2 can pretty much make any outdoor or indoor scene now (large worlds not yet... terrain... vegetation... culling etc...).
Again, its still a game engine which means lower poly and optimized assets will always run smoother and be faster. It is still possible to cripple the engine but a few tweaks and you then can make anything and use alot more assets. :)

@liam, that level reminds me of some survival games i've seen on Steam.

Nice.. :D The first one has a believable lighting before the sun comes up :)

Note: I don't see any daylight/shadows in the 2 pics and again; it looks ambient lit. I'm guessing this is intentional for the early morning lighting or is it a bug with lights from older scene files.

Still working on the patch files and an exe, it seems i have encountered a particle bug with spawning presets and am on its trail lol :P

Keep it up! :D

Lol you love your bugs chasing them all over lol

The shadows.. didn't even notice lol, I just built that scene today in gen2 with them models you fixed for me.

It's only the Marshgrass and pine trees models lol.. never mind I like the look of it either way.

Will make another when I get creative tomorrow.

Here is the fixed platformer files:
https://www.aurasoft-skyline.co.uk/downloads_common/Gen2/Platformer_Fixed.zip

I have also released a new version of skyline with the fixes needed for delete and particle spawning through presets.

As for the scene. Make sure the Property Brightness on the property panel while selecting the directional light is set about half way. Then check that the Sunlight power is a good number like 48 or 97. Next if you still dont see a light and shadows, then open the translation utility and flip the x and y to negative or if negative already, then positive.
This should give you sunlight and shadows. :)

Hope this all helps :D

To get the default scene back, set up a basic scene how you would like it then save it to the data folder/scenes and over right the one in there.

or replace with this one:

I think the autosave ends up setting a flag that allows the default scene to be saved which is a bit awkward lol :P

@liam, make sure the light has a good property setting on the directional light and check it isnt rotated 180 degrees on the Y.
It looks like the Render panel settings are ok, but its the directional light properties potentially at fault.
if i can make time, i will put a video together for controlling lighting :)

cool. To fill the scene with fake illumination, try adding a point light with no shadows to simulate bounced lighting from your spot lights.

Make sure the light debug sphere bounds don't go through your door, so when its closed and your on the other side; you wont see lights on the floor lol :P

hey, thats looking pretty cool. Nice to see the animated particles used :)
Was this an action for the particle as it seems to work :)

p.s. We are going to depreciate the old particle entity and move forwards with the action version as it is easier to maintain 1 workflow than 2. However, we know there are quite a few scenes using the old particle entity and will try to make an upgrade to entity change to have the particle as an action instead :)

Is the z order fixed in gen 2 I haven't got around to testing it remember that strange bug where the particle would cause a transparent item like glass to be in front of the particle.

sadly, this is not renderer specific but more the render queue's and how they relate to something that ends up with depth_write off. Its something i will be looking at or altering a rendering technique to make it happen at some point.

What i believe we need is sorting on alpha transparencies without losing background through alphas. If they are solid, it works fine.... its on the cards to look into still :)

Just a quick one this time no extra HDR stuff put in there just plain old textures, normal maps with dynamic sky set on but TOD turned off (clouds still move etc), placed a few point and spot lights to see the night time results.

The model isnt great kind of slung it together last night, was tired so never sorted out the stretched textures etc...

Well enjoy another scene guys...

How are you getting the textures to bake to the model ?
