Skyline Release V0-5-2 Alpha Patch

Hey guys we have a new release for you to try. this addresses many bugs and issues plus some of your feature requests ;)

Skyline 0-5-2 Release Update:

  • Updated: Editor -Double clicking on scene entity in the scene entity list will zoom to the selected object.
  • New: Can set Near and Far clip planes from scene settings in the camera section. This will also save and load.
  • New: Editor camera has a new walk mode. Walk on objects and terrain.
  • Update: Editor camera height saves with the scene and has a scene setting height property
  • Updated: Terrain Brush now moves with cursor when in anything but Creation panel.
  • Updated: When Creation panel is chosen the terrain brush is removed.
  • New: Material editor, no long will you have to manually write out the material permutation, just click the save button and the basic material will be converted to the Skyline material ready for forward/advanced/deferred render modes. We are aware that the values are not returned back to the editor yet but everything else should be working fine.
    Feel free to play with the properties as these will save to the material file but make sure you save it before clicking on another scene entity as you will lose the settings. The default values should be fine as they matched the previous base shader.
  • Updated: Base shader updated to have variable values passed from the new material editor.
  • Fixed: Terrain Vegetation Billboards culling distance - when set to zero it crashed, this is now Fixed.
  • Fixed: Vegetation density can now be set to 2 instead of 1. (This will increase memory overhead, make sure you have enough ram.)
  • New: Flatten height can now set to a specific height instead of where you click.
  • New: You can now link to the user manual directly through the help menu inside skyline.
  • New: Create a new scene from a template scene(any scene), but when you press save a dialog will appear, so you don’t overwrite the template.
  • New: On fresh start and opening a project, when you want to load a model, preset, scene file, particle etc.. The dialog will open to the project directory for the first time, it will then remember its last location. If no project is opened, then they default to the asset library directories.
  • Updated: Gizmo now matches 3dsMax gizmos rotation, except the z now points down the negative in skyline whereas max is positive, and x and y in skyline point positive.
  • Updated: Gizmo Y and Z axis colors have been swapped to match industry standards.
  • New: Lua command entity.turn(id, roll, pitch, yaw) function to set relative orientation of the entity.
  • New: Lua command entity.move(id, x, y, z) this command will move the object from its previous position by the unit amounts xyz. This is a relative movement not absolute as in setPosition(...)
  • Updated: The system scale has been change to 1m = 1 sky unit most editor speed controls are set to work with this new scale. If you find some discrepancies with speeds and controls please post them to the forums as this is a work in progress and affects a lot of the core system.
  • Updated: Online Lua API has been updated with new commands.

Please note that due to the new scale setting the demo scene files will not work as expected. We will be posting the updated scenes soon

Also if you are using a skybox you will need to set the scene Far Clip set to a greater distance than default. The Far Clip can be located in the camera section of the scene settings panel.

thanks for the patch. It is good, when often are the updates. I hope you do not slow the pace.
