Video Tutorial: MakeHuman To Skyline Using Blender

Postby SolarPortal » 06 Feb 2015, 21:10

Hi Everyone,
Just finished uploading my first voice over video tutorial today. Now you can all see why we don't have any voice over videos lol :P Plus it's taken most of the day lol.

@TattieBoJangle, hats of to you m8. your very good at it. :P

This video is showcasing the workflow from getting a character made in MakeHuman software, animating it in Blender and Exporting it to skyline. It shows how to do a clean run through of the task, and also shows a fix to one of many blender problems. Busted animations.

Hope that it helps you and that you like it or that it gives you some level of entertainment value. :D

Software Versions Used:

Thank you! Great tutorial! :D
But you chose a very difficult way of animation. Try using inverse kinematics. It is very easy!
Sorry for my English. :)

thanks antON, yes it seems it was a long way around, inverse kinematics is the way to go lol :P
My approach seems a tad old skool :)

Thank you, very detailed and well argumented explanations!
Great and very helpful tutorial!

If it’s possible I’d like to add just a little information. Infact, it is worth noting that another path it is possible (between Makehuman/Blender), since exists a specific plugin/addon to import a Makehuman character in Blender (mhx format). Once in Blender, you can animate the mesh via "load and retarget" a bvh file.
If someone is interested, here's the link:

Thanks a lot and see you in the next time!

P.s.: Just another question, please: how can I add an attached file to the post?

thanks for the response cosmo, very helpful indeed :)

As for attachments, we have them turned off to stop the server from being filled to fast. Once we have enough to upgrade to a dedicated server, we will most likely activate them.
Most people tend to use skydrive or dropbox sort of thing, then post a link to it.

If it is an image, then people can upload to our gallery, then link directly to it. This helps save time while posting images. :)

Look forward to seeing further developments :)
