Physics scale

Physics scale

Postby emkay4597 » 20 Mar 2015, 01:55

What scale might a human in game be expect to be to perform most realistically?

For example, If I make the pawn 100 feet tall, he may not fall quick enough or sustain fall damage well?
Or trip and shattered like glass

What scale does the physics assume?

Sorry if the answer is more obvious but Im afraid I am not at home and can not play around with it at the moment.

Thanks.

No worries, we are happy to help :)

Skyline uses a 1 meter = 1 unit ratio.
Skyline Physics, follows the same ratio, 1 meter = 1 unit. Which is PhysX Default ratio.

This means a good character scale is around 1.7m
Physics will work the same at 10x scale or 1x scale. Forces are relative to the size and mass of an object.
Characters can fall at any rate which can be customized on the character controller actions. Since we are using kinematic physics for them, we have programmed the character to move, fall, etc... at programmable rates.

If you have any more questions or problems or would like further information, then please feel free to ask :)
I hope this helps :D
