Gen 2 Requests

Gen 2 Requests

Postby SpiderMack » 24 Sep 2017, 22:03

Here i'll post Gen 2 requests as i keep using it.

Micro Graph usability : moving view with mouse
Editing "FPS Armed", mouse scroll is used to scroll down and up the window , it's not really usefull.
I have used many Visual Coding interfaces, this is my proposal :
1) Mouse Scroll to zoom up and down if it is possible
2) Use Right Mouse Down to move the graph up and down instead, it's more natural and more easy to be precise instead of using mouse scrolling, and you can move in X-Y with mouse and RMB down.

Terrain painting Strenght parameter : max value not strong enought
When i paint the second texture on top of the first, with brush strenght at maximum, i must draw many times to get the texture fully covering the first one.
I expect slider on max strenght to override other textures at first stroke.

Example Scripts : reducing to the minimum
I think reducing scripts to the minimum, will help people understand the basics before learning complex scripts.
"FPS Armed" micro script has lot of stuff like Quests and Objectives, removing those would make it shorter and better for people learning it.
Perhaps make some "Advanced Fps" along side with "Armed FPs" reduced to the minimum ?

Micro Graph : tutorials
I think, some small tutorials made with Micro Graph would be nice.

FPS player : Smaller Micro graph and micro script ?
Fps player is universal and could be used for a Fps game, some adventure game or something else.
Perhaps it would be better to have it's micro graph and micro script reduced to the minimum code necessary without any weapon management, and any quest code.

Thanks for the requests SpiderMack :)

The FPS Camera is the cut down version of the FPS_Armed which handles the movement only and has simple graph/script, we also have the sub modules planned to be added which will make it easier to visualise whats going on.

As for the Visual module movement, Right clicking and then left clicking on empty space will allow you to pan around.
Ideally, this will be moved onto middle mouse click.

Terrain painting Strenght parameter : max value not strong enought

Yeah, there is plenty still needing upgraded with the terrain ;)

I think, some small tutorials made with Micro Graph would be nice.

Absolutely, we are already in the stages of beginning the documentation. First plans are to cover basics and get people operational then explore into more advanced areas :)

Great.

I played with the last Gen2, and i can see the player and zombie are very friendly for non coders, wihout coding they can have a full game, it looks like some game maker for newbbies.
I hope there will be Lua and Shematics examples for people that are coders and that want to to modify code or make their own very custom gameplay.
Because having some pre made player actions, player weapons, ai si great for non coders while it's very limiting for experienced coders

well, the really cool part is that all the mechanics available are created entirely inside skyline so anyone with the knowledge can create them.

Having tutorials and documentation is a must to help any user of any skill level get over that first hurdle to allow the techniques and workflows to click and then your off making an unlimited amount of game mechanics :)

I understand, and i recognize having some FPs player and zombies in some cliks is very helpfull for quickly prototyping a game before coding our own gameplay :D

Actually the scene list is full but none of the scenes are available.
I hope they will be back as there was lot of examples to learn Lua coding and engine features.
