Global shadows on/off

Global shadows on/off

Postby howler » 26 Apr 2014, 01:36

I've figured out you can turn shadows on/off by toggling the "Advanced Materials" button, but it may come in handy to have a shadows on/off master switch.
I also searched the Lua commands and the only shadow command I could find was at the entity level. On published games, when giving the user the ability to customise the graphics settings for their systems I'd think being able to turn shadows on/off for system performance reasons will be highly desired.

yes, we will add this at some point.

When turning advanced materials off, it reverts all objects to their fixed function states, rather than the master shader skyline uses that contains the normals, speculars etc... usually defined in the material files with _adv.

We will be making a throttling system for skyline, but there currently is not one in place.
This is something for the end release though. :D

You can turn shadows off on the light in the scene though.
Simply, select the scene lights, and go to the properties, under shadows, turn off cast shadows.
