Check for update feedback

In the 0.8.0RC, when checking for version updates there's no feedback. Can you please make it pop up a window to say whether there's a new release available, or whether no new release was found? As it doesn't give any feedback, I don't know if there's no new version, or if the button isn't working.
Also, can it time out after a couple of seconds? I'm not sure if it currently has a timeout feature.

when nothing appears, it doesn't display anything. I can add a message stating that you are on the latest version.
When there is an update, you will already get a window popup showing the latest update and ask whether you want to download
