rotateable sculpting brushes

rotateable sculpting brushes

Postby lordalmighty1 » 19 Feb 2015, 18:03

ok so after hours of playing with the terrain brushes I would very much like to be able to rotate them for more options and less similar looking terrain/ mountains and such.. :)
also on a side note, I notice some of the brushes leave a square section around the height map, which then needs smoothing :(

yes, we would like the rotating option aswell.

Roadmapped: https://trello.com/c/rFauf2rQ/195-terrain-brush-rotation

But you can make as many brushes as you want, they are simple png images placed in the "Data/Terrain/Brushes" folder.
Reboot skyline and they will show. So for now you could create a few images of different rotations to get around this issue.

we are in the process of setting the next feature deadlines, for now, simply add more brushes of different rotations.

Q) May i ask what are you needing it for in your project? Perhaps there is a way around this already or If it is holding up your project, then we can talk about its timeline for feature addition.

This week however has been assigned to bug fixing.

What i can tell you, is that the terrain could end up radically changing especially for upgrading the core renderer, but this is all up in the air atm.

Hope this helps :D

well, I want to be able to have more diverse mountains and valleys. currently the templates for the brushes all face 1 way so limit me to being able to change the terrain to suit me lol. I don't know how to change them or add new 1s either myself sadly.
I just want them to rotate 90 degree's to a full 360 rotation like. lol, probably easy right for some1 to do if they know how I bet :)

Create a black & white image in *.png format and place it in the folder:
"Skyline\Data\Terrain\Brushes\", then reboot skyline to use it.

You can also just copy the image you use from that folder, rotate is 90 degrees using an image editing software, and place it back in the folder. Super simple :)
