Very nice logo loving it, Just a thought wouldn't it be in the game development category as well?

the gen2 software is in a very early alpha state and not fully ready for greenlight just yet.

LO is absolutely correct the "GEN 2" Version is under alpha testing as we speak, there are a couple of notes that I would like to say here, Gen 2 has proven so far.. to be way more stable than GEN 1.

Look at my thread for some images and animated Gif's to show just some of the results that I have gotten within 30 mins of throwing a scene together. http://www.forum.aurasoft-skyline.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1683

Gen 2, when its released will be what you have been waiting for believe me, with the new GUI Interface/system, RTT, etc thats planned, skyline will be the go to development platform.

On a personal note: An update of what else is happening with the Skyline Community, Documentation and Video Tutorials

So in short this is what is happening (what I am doing to Help out):
  • Documentation Update and clean up.
  • Off line getting started and reference guides.
  • Short video and series of tutorials that follow on from each other.
  • A Larger catalouge of Texture Maps.
  • Create Demo Scenes for the Asset store.
  • Create More scripts (lua) for the asset store.

There are short video tutorials, video series (tutorials), Pdf offline getting started and reference guide that I am going to focusing on and bringing back to the table in the coming weeks, they will be ready to drop before Gen 2 gets launched (fingers crossed).
Following this I will be writing PDF (& video) tutorials for the visual mechanics editor and showing people how to use it, I am considering doing a LUA tutorial then the next a Visual Mechanics Chart to complement the LUA side or if its best to get one done than the other.

The Documentation Server and API Page will also be getting a clean up and bringing up to date to co-inside with the (or before) GEN 2 is released.

I am also making a collection of textures that can be made as part of the Skyline Default Package, these textures maps include: Defuse, Normal, Spec and AO. Some include roughness etc.

The Texture Maps are for reuse and Commercial with modification rights in them and I believe these will ship with skyline as default, the list will grow as the weeks roll on lol :)

Almost forgot that I am going to be leaning the QT plugin system and starting some sort of tutorial on that too, so as you can see things are progressing one step at a time and you will see some big changes coming... :D

I hope this answers any questions you may have now or in the near future. :D

Thanks for your answers. On steam you can find a lot of software on sale in alpha stage, so you can get some financial support there before beta/final release.

yes we know, but for skylines sake its better to have a much better start then some of those 3+year alpha softwares do.

why rush and ruin a reputation of skyline with steam users, who honestly don't seem to understand the alpha phases of software that much. the software will get there its just a case of having as best a start as possible which should limit the bad reviews from the ignorant users as possible, and help skyline get funded better in the long run.

as skyline is mainly developed by just 2 scripters working their arses off finding and nailing down the worst problems now before steam release is their goal.

Thanks LA and Liam, :D I can not add any more than what you guys said apart form we have a few new features being prepared for release...... ;) once the day to day stuff is fixed.

@psychoanima thank you for your green-light interest. We want to ensure we can get Skyline as good as it can be in the pre release period. We are aiming to hit the publish button in the next couple of months. :D

Very nice logo. Indeed!

I will second that Gen2 is very stable. Currently working on Lua scripting with cubes and spheres in a scene with a large 1m thick x 500m2 cube to act as ground during conversion and testing. I have had zero crashes....so really solid on the script side of things.

But nothing like testing on a terrain that is textured and place those 'things' to give more inspiration to keep stepping forward. ;)
