Bug Description:

When you place a exploding barrel into the scene and play or run skyline crashes

Steps to reproduce:

Just place the exploding barrel and press play

Visual Proof:

Skyline Version: GEN2

OS Version: Windows 10

Hardware Specs: In sig
Case: CM Storm Trooper CPU: I7 5930k X99 Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Graphics: Asus GTX 1080 Motherboard: Rampage Extreme V x99 Ram: RipJaws DDR4 3000mhz Storage: x2 SSD Crucial 500GB + x5 2TB Hdd PSU: Evga 1500w OS: Windows 10

Thanks Tatty, just tried the RMB FPS Kit:Exploding barrel, this and everything is ok? We will have a look to see where this could have broken for you. If you have any more info: did the material show, make a sound, show an effect before the crash? :)

Sure thing works ok when using the player but when using the animate to see other stuff in the scene it crashes to desktop had a look at the logs but it does not show any info to why so here is a video and the crash log also what you see in the video is the same problem I am facing with the spawn particle just black.

Again, that looks like the atomicity default PU effect placed if the original is missing.

Try going to Data/ Resources/ and delete the 2 resource files in there. Boot skyline and try again :)

I put a barrel into the scene, and a fps player shot barrel explosion was black and before even shooting barrel the skybox is black also

I just tried the FPS Kit Player v1 and it does the black particles thing, on FPS KIT Player v2 it is working fine.

I also get the same black sphere and fire particle on installed folder.
I dont know why i didnt realise this quicker, but the PU effect files were stored in the .ark files that gen1 released, but i had too take them out until we could edit them due to the files in the .arks loading with the engine instead of the dynamic resource system which crashed because materials are broken.

Wow, your barrels effects look crap in the installed Gen2 lol :P Will have to try and sort them out for next update or one after :)

Anyway, all the black spheres and non material'd effects is due to you using a particle universe file and code in the barrel. My advice would be to use SkyParticles instead however, be aware loading them from script as they do differ in code to call them. Check out StarFire's post on the correct way to call a sky particle in script: http://www.forum.aurasoft-skyline.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1772#p9698

Q) Are you using damage actions or specific actions to trigger the particles or is it in script.

I only noticed it due to spawning a particle and it was showing black so I thought I would try one that was already there and found that but yeah it was a script that was used to spawn one in.
