Engine won't upgrade (FIXED)

Engine won't upgrade (FIXED)

Postby Ryzon » 17 Oct 2015, 11:47

Okay so I have version 0.9.0 and tried to upgrade to 0.9.6

I did in fact click no on update when engine opens and used the help area to update at that point.

I get to where it says downloading 0.9. as the previous 5 seem to have went through perfectly. Well when 0.9.6 seems to be done the engine closes, a command panel pops us as does several changelog pages for the 0.9.6 skyline in my browser. The command panel is still running stuff then eventually says update successful but when I reopen editor it still says 0.9.0 and that I need to update.

I use Windows 10 but I also tried it in 8, 7, XP service pack 3, none give me a better result. I also tested as administrator.

I restarted PC as well. Nothing works.

Also I noticed at the very end of all of it I get a error window popped up saying could not find Aurasoft UK Skyline_free editor.exe which is weird because I am not using the free version.

Hi Ryzon did you have the free version installed before as it sounds like it hasn't removed all the files.

It could possibly be an environment variable issue or registry

Environment Varaible:
On win 10 go to the search and type in "environment". Ensure that you only have 1 set of these variables and that they point to your install location.

SKYLINE_SDK - Should point to "$(HardDrive)\...\Aurasoft\SkylineSDK"
SKYLINE_SDK_BIN - Should point to "$(HardDrive)\...\Aurasoft\SkylineSDK\Skyline\Win32_Release"
SKYLINE_VERSION - Should point to "Skyline"

For other users: If on free version, replace "Skyline" with "Skyline_Free".
If you change these, then you will need to restart and try to upgrade again. I will have to make sure the commercial installer removes those variables if they exist already and then set them to the new version :)

Registry:
Backup registry, then go to Current User/Software and remove the Aurasoft folder.

Hope this helps :D

Should I just do a fresh install and remove everything? Because I did have free version installed first. But i thought I got rid of it.

If you still have problems it could be a reg problem like solarportal said to easy remove all skyline reg files you can use the attached file double click it and it will remove all skyline registry files do this before a clean install.

Code inside the file.
Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Aurasoft]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Aurasoft UK]

If your 9.0 doesnt update to 9.6 make sure you dont have a space in your username.
If your local drive is C:\Users\Johny C\ or something like that you will have to locally go to your Appdata folder (Hit Windows then type in %appdata%) or C:\Users\(Username)\appdata\Roaming, then goto Aurasoft\SkylineSDK\update_(whatever folder is there)\ and there should be a .bat.

Before you click on this Bat open up the editor, then run the .bat.
I DONT ALWAYS ART BUT WHEN I DO ITS GOD DAMN BEAUTIFUL!
