New User Problem with CONVERT.EXE (FIXED)

Hi All, I just downloaded the FREE version of Skyline with a view to purchase. The problem at the moment is the ImageMagick
file CONVERT.EXE, this file does not work at all, and I keep getting a message window stating CONVERT.EXE UNABLE TO START
CORRECTLY. This problem is causing the Editor to be unable to load all test Scenes and Games.

I tried downloading a new file from the ImageMagick site but had the same problem.

I have Windows 8.1 - 64bit - DX11 - Maybe that's the problem as I noted that the PRO Version is now built on DX11 not 9.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums OzzieDave :D

First, i would like to apologize for the problems you are having and would like you to know that we will work with you to get through this problem and if possible prevent this from happening again in the future.

Q) Is this the first time you have installed skyline?
Q) Did you reboot after installation as the env vars need to be setup?
Q) Where is you skyline installed to? (the full path will help :))

The ImageMagick that comes with skyline will work on your version of windows and skyline is still DX9 for the version you are running. Currently we are upgrading the renderer to DX11 and OpenGL3+ to keep with modern trends.

Hi Solarportal, This is the first time I have used this programme. Yes I did ReBoot my computer and Skyline is Installed at
Aurasoft UK/Skyline/Tools/ImageMagick-6.9.0.

I was also be Interested to find out more about the Visual Modules, as I would like to see good AI, which is very important to
every game.

Usually, this type of error is caused by environment variables not pointing to the correct directories, but that should be fine on a first time install.

i don't think the env var is wrong as it looks ok.

Q) Can you use the tool from the folder manually? e.g. by running it in a Command prompt.

The tools folder should be located 2 directories below the main Winxx_Release directory.


C:\Aurasoft UK\Skyline\Tools\
C:\Aurasoft UK\Skyline\Skyline\Win64_Release\


I will think on some more options we can try as this is a strange bug since all the variables are in place.

I made up a Batch file to Run Convert from the Tools\ImageMagick-6.9.0 directory, and it worked fine.

I do not have a Directory named Win64_Release though, only Win32_Release ?.

sorry, only Win32_Release on Free version. Perhaps this is a fault. I will check on my 32bit version :)

Hi, thanks for this. It is really strange why this happens.

Q) Can you try re-downloading and installing the Software in case it had problems being installed.
Q) Have you tried running the program with admin permission?

I am building a new exe on the side to test with for you, it will provide more feedback to the problem.

Yes have tried Admin Permission, did have a problem with the AL OpenAL sound install part
but the actual installation completed Successfully, but your Skyline Setup said FAILED !!!.

Will Download and Install, but my Internet is as slow as Dial-Up.
