Navmesh on terrain requires you to paint in the areas you need as filling an entire terrain of navmesh is both a performance killer and memory killer.

Use the brush size and keep clicking on different sections to add new tiles where needed.

Your example is not terrain, you not checked terrain.
My scene is terrain, i check terrain , if i click generate , the only generated navmesh is the blue square you see on my screenshot.
Navmesh does not work on terrain, test it instead of posting useless video.

as i explained before, the terrain navmesh has to be manually placed. Activate the Build button on navmesh editor and give yourself a better brush size, then click to add more tiles.

For terrain, there is no message saying you can paint navmesh, we should see some brush feedback like painting terrain. Not good.
A good editor is when you don't need tutorials to use it , hwne most things are intuitive.

Navmesh on terrain requires you to paint in the areas you need as filling an entire terrain of navmesh is both a performance killer and memory killer.

Terrain means, whole terrain is playable. It's fast generation hand painting, why not automatic for simple terrain scale ?
work 3D engines works with navmesh generation and terrain
I think you means for very big terrains ? Let user decide or tweak parameters, but hand painted is bad solution for navmesh.
Don't want to hand paint each time terrain is modified or new gameplay is tested, nedd one button generation for terrain no hand painting :x
For very big terrains you can use small area real time navmesh generation around character.

Ok, its not using the terrain panel to paint navmesh. The navmesh editor is the tool that builds and reloads navmesh tiles.

You say you want a whole terrain, you will find more often than not; especially with games that have good level design that use geometry to occlude the areas that players and NPC's cant wander over everything on a terrain, so having a system that can generate tiles where needed to be more efficient is better than wasting resources due to lazy level design.

Plus, with users that might not have a great deal of ram in their PC's to generate navmesh on terrain automatically would be a bad idea as it would just lead to out of memory exceptions. It still only takes like a few mins to lay the navmesh where wanted by clicking with a larger brush size on the "navmesh editor".

Open world means player and Npc follows everywhere on map. Dynamic generation or whatever solution is on your side.Open world racing, ski don't need navmesh, but complex levels like Just Cause game needs it.
Never seen painting Navmesh
