Script editor window bugs

Script editor window bugs

Postby howler » 13 Apr 2014, 11:55

v0.7.5
Bug 1) Exit button on the menu (as opposed to the close window "X" in the corner) doesn't work on the script editor.

Steps to reproduce
Open the GUI Screen Example tech demo
Select "UI Script" entity
Click "triggered" on the Micro Scene Editor to bring up the Skyline Script Editor
Click File -> Exit

Bug 2) "Close all open files" menu option brings up hidden window if you've edited the script
The Script Editor window stays on top of every other window, so the confirmation window checking whether you do want to close all open files and lose your changes is hidden and can only be accessed by alt/tab or your windows taskbar. You can't shift the script editor out of the way as the window isn't active and can't be moved.
To reproduce : Follow the steps from bug 1, edit the script, select File -> Close all open files.

Bug 3)
As mentioned in bug 2, the script editor stays on top of every other window. This remains the case if you switch to a different program (eg. your web browser). In my opinion, if the script editor is going to be on top , it should only be on top of all other skyline windows, not on top of every program on your system. This "on top of everything" behaviour also seems to happen with other windows like the spline editor.

thanks for the report howler :D

Bug 1) Exit button on the menu (as opposed to the close window "X" in the corner) doesn't work on the script editor.

Fixed for the next release! it was not programmed yet, but is now :P

Bug 2) "Close all open files" menu option brings up hidden window if you've edited the script

Fixed. The message box now appears on top of the editor in all situations.

Currently, we have no way of telling the window to stay on top of itself but not on top of other apps, which is why we add a pin icon to most editor toolbars.
It is a button which toggles whether or not the window stays on top or not.
In the script editor and other editors, it will remember its last state to save you having to press it all the time.
