Crash Report 0.9.2

Crash Report 0.9.2

Postby epsilonion » 02 Mar 2015, 20:23

I thought I would try to reproduce some of the bugs and crashes to report them

Every time I repeat this process it crashes out on me..

Sometimes when loading a scene or loading an empty one i get the following, this seems intermittent.

Image

Path Editor

Path Editor - When I click Visibility Enabled and Show in Game and make them false so they dont show up after making a line path, when I export the project .exe and run it the lines and arrows are still visible.

I have restarted the engine a few times and repeated and it is still visible on every try.

Post Processing

Every time I click on fantasy it crashes, also with the two ways to access post processing if you enable something like HDR in one it does not have a tick next to it when you open the Post processing with the other methods

Multilight terrain option crash
I am wanting to use a multi light terrain as I am setting up a night time scene (low light) sort of like the one that was posted with the car and camp fire but adapted to learn how to make good night time scenes.
I keep getting a crash when I select multi-light from the terrain creation tab.

ahh, i have had this bug. I will see if i can fix it now for the next patch release :)
I believe the resources are scanning an incorrect directory after clicking cancel on the skybox.
If you have problems with resources. Simply recreate the resource lists from the asset manager main menu or go to folder "Data/Resources" and remove "SkylineResources.cfg" & "SkylineMaterialResource.cfg" but leave the base resources file in place.
Then reboot skyline.

Thanks for the help in tracking this bug. :)

I also cant help but notice your files are compressed m8 not sure if this would effect anything but if you ever need to turn it off.

select the folders right click then
properties
advanced
And untick compress contents then press ok

your folders and files should change from blue to white ;)

Strange i never got that bug but thanks for the fix ;)

Also liamgibbins having they files compressed like that will cost you on performance as it will cause latency accessing the files and your processor will have to decompress each time the file is used before it is able to do anything with the data it wont be a massive hit but still slows stuff down just thought i would share that knowledge ;)

Its compressed because I am running it on the backup drive as I am running out of room lol...
I have over 3 TB of pictures from landscapes to weddings.. on this drive :D

I will get around to reinstalling this system at some point and sorting out the rubbish on the drives but I just dont have the time these days...

The path editor bug i will look at today :)

As for the post FX bugs, the panel where the fantasy is activated & crashes is the old post FX panel.
They are all being moved into the new Editor Panel accessed from the right click in scene view editor.
We probably won't fix those for a while as they will be fixed when the post fx work has been got back to. :) It is currently a WIP system. However fantasy used to work lol :P

Another note: If you see an effect like HDR, Bloom, Photofilter in the new editor panel. These will not activate on the old dockable window version as they have been moved.

If I can find a spare moment ( "crazy laughter comes from the back of studios darkest recesses!" ) I will give the effects a look over and stop any crashes plus move favs some to the new editor. I have had SPs request so if any one needs a specific post effect to be moved from the old system to the new editor please let me know.

This old dockable editor will be depreciated and removed prior to our V1 release and is only left in for now as some of the effect can be fun. Personally I find fun with the VJ eye candy effects

Path Visibility is now fixed for the next release. It won't show in 2play the game" mode either unless specified to do so. :)

Multi-Light terrain option crash - when you slect multi-light fro the drop down list on the terrain editor drop down list, it does it every time I try and select it.

you need to create the terrain first and then choose multi light.
It shouldn't crash though, so i will add a fix in now :)
