I got the files from StarFire and then ran it and the game crashed like you say.
I then removed the "SkylineSettings.ini" file and it ran fine
So this is the fix for now
The problem is that your computer settings were stored in the file, which are not the same as everyone elses.
It is supposed to detect these changes and remake them. But it doesn't work all the time as it seems.
Hint: When packaging a game, make sure to remove the generated files such as:
- SkylineSettings.ini
- Skyline_TechSupport.txt
- The data folder that is generated, as this is used in runtime. Not happy with this folder just yet and will improve it.
- cAudioEngineLog.html
- SkylineEXE.log
All you really need for the game is:
- game.exe
- dlls
- plugins.cfg
- desert island_GameInfo.skyINI
- the asset folders etc...
These are required for the game.
