Run Skyline from USB

Run Skyline from USB

Postby Shando » 10 Mar 2013, 09:05

Hi All,

Just a quick question whether it would be possible to run Skyline from a USB??

The reason I ask is that ShiVa can be run from a USB and I used to do quite a bit of work on my 1.5hr each way commute to work.

Personally it would be great for me as I can't install software on my work laptop hence running from a USB.

Regards

Yeah, Sunny Coast to BrisVegas is only 100Ks but takes 1.5hrs on Queensland Rail :x

I gave it a quick try earlier and got an error message. I'll try again and see what the message was and let you know.

OK, done some more digging....

Looks like it fails to find d3d:

Code: Select all
06:50:25: OGRE EXCEPTION(7:InternalErrorException): Could not load dynamic library RenderSystem_Direct3D9.  System Error: The specified module could not be found.

 in DynLib::load at .\src\OgreDynLib.cpp (line 91)

I've checked on my work laptop, and it's definitely there in C:\Windows\System32 - d3d8.dll, d3d9.dll, d3d10.dll and d3d11.dll are all present.

However, one thing I did notice was that the Skyline.cfg file still had the details of my Desktop Graphics Card, so I deleted this file with no success (I thought it might re-open the Graphics setup dialog??):

Code: Select all
Rendering Device=Monitor-1-ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Is it possible, somehow, to re-run the Graphics set-up (maybe automatically if no Skyline.cfg file is present)??

Regards

Thanks for the info :D.
That should have worked, this is meant to happen when there is no Skyline.cfg available in the release folder.

Is this running from the USB or the laptop?

I'll do some tests from a USB on our end and see if there are problems. :D

Hi SolarPortal,

I'm running straight from the USB, I haven't tried copying to the laptop as work have some pretty strict rules on what we can save.
