Oh, I believe it. Like you, 2.79 (and earlier) was ... just bad. I had tried Blender several times in the past and hated it each time. It was frustrating at best. But they (finally) listened, changed the UI, made other substantial changes, and it's made all the difference. Droves of pros are either moving to Blender or at least adding Blender to their 3D arsenal. Blender now saves me hundreds of dollars annually since I don't have to pay expensive subscription fees for using a modeling application.
