[SOLVED] 0.7.5 Techdemos crashing all the time

Hi, I just got the auto-updates from the internet that loaded up the new 0.7.3, 0.7.4 and 0.7.5 builds. Now when I go to load any of the Techdemo scenes I get a crash after hitting the play button in the editor. I tried the FPS with arm, community game, tropical scene environment and GUI example scene and they all crashed the editor and closed the program. Am I doing something wrong for none of the demos work any more ? Below is the error crash pic

> What OS are you using?
> What are your computer specs? gfx, ram, cpu?
> Where was your skyline installed to?
> Can you upload the skyline.log that is in your "$(SkylineSDK)\Skyline\Release" folder.
> Can you show me a picture of the command prompt (at the end for when it crashes).

This will help in trying to nail the bug, or at least get started into finding it.

skyline is installed in C:/aurora/etc...
how do i upload the log file and what is the exact name of the file ?
i try to see command prompt window but it wont let me see it

from the log file, there isn't anything at play which could be breaking skyline.

Have you installed all the dependencies?

• OpenAL - if missing, leads to a crash.
• PhysX
• VC++ Redist 2008
• DirectX

I have all those independencies installed. Skyline use to work before 0.7.3. This just happened after I downloaded the 0.7.3 release files and I did not have a chance to try out Skyline till now after it updated to 0.7.4 and then to 0.7.5 automatically

If you can try a few more tests for us to help determine exactly where your Skyline is falling over:

1) When Skyline loads and prior to loading a scene does all look well?
2) With no scene loaded press the play button, what happens?
3) can you click the new scene tool button, does the default scene load ok?
4) again press the play button, is it still ok?

before all the crashes everything seems to be okay. Everything loads up into the scene with no problems.

i just tried going to new scene clicked on that and it loaded the new blank scene and then i press play and it crashes

Now i notice it says skyline editor V0-7-1 on the desktop shortcut. Are those the right numbers ? I thought it was suppose to be 0-7-5

Now i just tried it again. I click on the shortcut on desktop and it takes the usual 30 sec or so to load up the editor with the little windows flashing up as they load and then all is well with a blank scene. Now i press the play button as you said i should and it crashes again ! Wonder what is going on

Thanks, yes the yellow warning is only telling us that the gui debugger is active in the main scene editor and not the gui editor,thats ok.
So far so good......

It would be good if we can hook you up with a test exe so that we can nail this fault. Can I recommend you contact tech support directly so that we can pass files to you. Once the problem is resolved we can post the solution back to this post.

still stuck on this... waiting to hear from support again.. this is what i got when i tried to use skyline in compatability mode so that i could get it to work:

it was a no go as you can see..it says the Skyline editor is not compatable ! I thought this works on windows 7 ? it used to work on this computer with windows 7 (same OS and system) before these autoupdates

Sorry to hear you have not resolved your issue. I did see your screen grab on solar portals PC and it is looking like physx is causing the problem. This is why you can see the working GUI editor as this requires no physx to be active also this proves that your directx is driving the renderer surface just nice and fine
When you try to load a the default (new) scene the scene loads, again proving that the directx connection is working but, when you press the play button Skyline activates the physx physics system and thus crashes as the physx is not present.
I would try to install the physx that came with Skyline and see how that goes. I know there are many users who have the latest physx and also run Skyline fine.

Is there anyone elses out there in cyberspace with a similar related Skyline issue?

Support finally gave me the fix that worked All i had to do was uninstall my newest phys x and replace it with the older one here as stated in the support email:

The most current release runs all tech demos without any problems, or non have been reported yet ; )

Most tech demos can run through without any problems, but ones with terrains may crash after alot of other loads.
Simply reboot skyline and load the tech demo that crashed and it should function fine.
