This tutorial demonstrates adding models in with the new workflow for speed and efficiency. It also demonstrates adding actions using the new action editor and also demonstrates how to add scripts: http://www.chi-ad.com/DokuWiki/doku.php/skylineworkflow_importingmodel

I would be grateful for material tutorials, i have some troubles getting it to work. I have simple wall with difuse , normal and specular , all i can see is the difuse , i cant see any changes after adding normal map and specular map.
and after adding displacement map i am unable to save the material , the displacement map always dissapear and the slot is empty ?

Hi ellement,

I think your problem is because you have not converted your material to an advanced one? I believe only advanced materials can have normal and specular?

Check out the Skyline Developers Manual from the button at the top of the page, it has some good stuff regarding materials 8-)

HTH

@Ellement,
as shando mentioned, you need to be using an advanced material in order to use normals and specular.
but if that doesn't work and normals still dont show, then it is most likely tangents for each set of vertices.

This is required for normal and displacement mapping.
If you cant generate tangents on your mesh inside the modelling application, then you could use Skyline's tangent generating tool.

To use this:
> Go to and click on "main menu -> Tools -> Mesh -> Generate tangents on selected Entity".
> Reload the scene entity using the icon on the toolbar. (E with a refresh icon on it).

As for displacement mapping, this is currently in development and not usable by yourself atm unless you write your own base material. But we will be introducing it soon as we have a lot of shader work to do :P

Hope this helps :D

so, been a year and I went and watched the 1st getting started tut on youtube.. no voices yet lol..
I understand where your coming from and know the engine work is more important back then and probably now still, but voiced tutorials are much easier to follow, for me at least lol. any chance of some voice overs on these tuts on youtube please?.
could be text to speech software dubbed ontop or an actual person either way is probably fine :)

we have been thinking some time on this.
those videos are a bit out of date now and do not represent the current editor, so we will make some more.
we'l just have to get over our voices, but first takes are usually the best. :P
they won't be perfect to begin with but we should improve over time.

could be text to speech software dubbed ontop

lol, this would sound very funny.... :P

depends where you get the text to speech, some are real good these days. some are costly I would think but just an option to think over or test out?.

maybe the more informed users could help in this regard?
