Skyline does not yet support atlased textures, but if each of the images are seperated into single frames, then you can create an animated texture from them.

our explosions like the exploding barrel were made in particle universe, which is a free Editor to make very complex particles.
The owner recently made the entire source MIT.

Particle universe: http://www.fxpression.com/

As for our particle editor, it does work, but there is a very specific pattern to making it work. It is one of the very few editors that have not yet been upgraded. It will get a sprucing for the final release though.

Skyline loads particle universe files(.pu) through the action.
Skyline .skyParticle files are our filetype.

.skyParticle cannot load animated textures yet, just loads texture files, but particle universe can we believe.
PU might even run a spritesheet.

Ok the explosion on the barrels is from Particle universe as we have found this to be a good looking effects system. The Skyline system needs a little work, a job I have planned in after the current task. The PU effect is simply added into skylines assets library and you can use it as any other effect.

The PU editor is a visual editor with many cool effect templates.

I am uploading PU to the asset store as it is now MIT licensed and free to use.

If you still want to use the skyline particle system I will make a walk through for you. ;)

playing with the particle editor yields some nicer results.
but since the skyline particle editor does not handle material, and only 1 texture. it isn't doing much lol.

i will tweak the engine and send you a new exe

I have put particle universe on the store which also has links to the authors site where you an see tutorials and find other media packs for use. The PU editor comes with many pre-made effects.

http://www.chi-ad.com/Skyline/AssetStore/index.php?route=product/product&path=82_83&product_id=66

Let me know if you get the download as it is untested.

I will make a tutorial on how to add these to Skyline ;)

first, add the new particle to the resources.

use the action "Effect - Particle Universe" from the Effects category in the Action editor.
Add this to a scene entity. After load the file in the properties. Set the scale to something smaller as PU files are normally quite large.

If it crashes when loading, open the .pu file in a text editor, and make sure the system name(first line) is the same as the filename, this should then load.

ok, i have the basis of an animated texture inside skylines particle system.
see this video:

still working on it, but its getting there. lots of tidying up to do lol.
When complete; i will send an pre-release exe version out to specific users.

Also, you will notice that the texture quality is much better, thanks to the particle system blending modes.

animated textures on particles are now saving and loading from the particle editor, last step is to make sure the resources auto load for the textures :) nearly there
