Forester and Medusa

Some time you come across a jewel in cyberspace and Forester and Medusa are such jewels. These applications may not look as current but the tech behind them is very powerful and can produce some amazing results for very little effort on your part. Best of all you don't need to sell your Gran to get a copy as it is priced for the hobby user.

Skyline Render of Forester and Medusa Content:

If you want vegetation in your game these tools are a must in your toolbox. They come with a variety of templates to get you started and a selection of textures and it is easy to add your own texture if needed.

Forester as the name implies is a powerful tree generation package with numerous options for a huge variety of trees and custom variations are very quick to create. Medusa is a rock generation package, this is one tool you did not know you needed no more will you have to suffer difficult UVs as this package produces tidy seams out of the box with correction tools if needed. Again the quality of results from both these packages is outstanding.

There is no reason not to try as there is a free lite version to try before you buy.

Nice touch, much darker now

Also, I added a red Spot light pointing out the cave from the fire which gave a really nice glow effect on the barrels and planks but it didnt affect the terrain at all?, anyone have any ideas?

just uploaded a flickering light preset onto the store.
it has a microscript attached.

http://www.chi-ad.com/Skyline/AssetStore/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=78

it would look great in that scene :D

Edit: Terrain currently only works with one light. The directional light.
StarFire is currently in the process of trying to get a multi light terrain :D

ahh yep cool, so even with deleting the directional light it still wont be affected by any other lights?,

But yeah flickering light would be the finishing touch for that cave fire

oh, sorry, if you delete the directional light, then a point or spot will also work.
However the scene will not load back as it requires the directional light for setup.

In this case, simply set the visibility property of the Dir light to off, which means it isn't deleted just invisible and the scene will load back. The point or spot will then take over. But you must leave the dir light in the scene and must not change its tag in its properties.

you can fix your scene, as all the files are XML as user @Shando knows :)
This means most aspects of the scene can be edited outside of the engine. If you send me your scene files, i will fix it for you :D

that is an awesome looking cove. nice one m8 :)

Have you tried the multi light terrain yet, to get the fire bleeding out the cave.
This is on the drop down in the creation tab of the terrain editor.

The Uber material will look great on those rocks once done aswell.

Keep up the great and artistic work :D

Does anyone know of any other asset generators? For example buildings, houses, etc, or a creature creator (similar to a character creator but with non-humanoid beings.) Anything that can make a programmers life easier.

going to give the asset gen script a try as this may give us ideas on how we could do this in Skyline.
Id the autodesk character does rigging then it could be a good tool.
