Hello all Skyline Developers.
We have just released the auto update to the Skyline Game Engine. This update Version is V0-9-6 and includes some major system rewrites:

There is still many issues and bugs that will be in the system, so please work with us and we will iron them out to make these new rewrites the stablest they can possibly be.

Thank you to everyone who has been patient and stood by us in these hard times, but development for the skyline game engine is now back on track and we aim to bring out the monthly releases again. :D

I second that you guys have worked hard on this one without a doubt and its great seeing Skyline move forward

I noticed loading .mesh files now automatically loads the animations as well? This is nice. :)

Here is the first patch release for all commercial indie skyline users for the V0.9.6 Skyline Game Engine.
This is not an official release but a release to get users that have had some troubles up and running with skyline again.
We will be releasing more patches as we fix other major bugs as well as some of them are caused by windows 10.

Note: This will not work for free version users.

Instructions:
There are several files in this folder,

> First extract and copy the "Skyline Editor.exe", "Skyline Player.exe" & "Skyline FBX Converter.exe" to your "Win32_Release" folder. It is always wise to take a backup of the current exe's in case of other problems.
> Second, extract and copy the "Skyline Game.exe" file and place in the "$(SkylineSDK)\Skyline\Data\Template\Skyline_End_Game\" folder. This is the folder that the game compilation comes from.

Basic Changelog:
New:
  • New: Material Editor: You can now reset the material textures loaded on each slot
  • New: Skyline icon for applications has changed.

Fixed:
  • Fixed: The player and game exe would not load a scene file due to silly mistake in code.
  • Fixed: Particles would show an error in the console for any missing particle file even if the particle was an scene data particle. Set to only show error message when using particle file.
  • Fixed: Asset Manager: Animations would not work if folder is prepared with "Share Materials"
  • Fixed: Asset Manager: Some normals and specular maps were not renamed correctly and contained underscores.

I will be updating the online auto update of 0.9.6 to include these changes

I made a mistake with my instructions for the latest patch.
You need to place the "Skyline Game.exe" into the folder shown below and not the "Win32_Release" folder as this is the file for game compilation.

Correct Folder: "$(SkylineSDK)\Skyline\Data\Template\Skyline_End_Game\"
This is where this exe needs to reside and i am sorry for making this mistake.

Once this is done, simply remove the Skyline Game.exe from the "Win32_Release" folder.

Standalone Exported games:
If you have already exported a standalone game and it is failing to load, then to save time and not have to reexport the game, then follow these instructions:

> Copy and paste the "Skyline Game.exe" into your game directory.
> Copy the name of the current exe which should be the name of your game.
> Delete the old exe file
> Rename the "Skyline Game.exe" to your game name. For example "My Game.exe"
> This will now run the latest skyline version with your game and hopefully load.

ok, we are now looking at saying Skyline is fully windows 10 compatible.

The errors which were making skyline unstable on start and during play were:
  • Spawning an animated character on touch of a trigger box. This is now fixed and was caused due to an animation crash.
  • Skyline starting and characters not animating. This is now fixed and was also caused by the same animation crash.

It seems Windows 10 was causing an uninitialized variable to fault and consequently crash the engine. If you know of any other errors that have arose due to windows 10, then please let us know as we are now planning in the free version upgrade and the full commercial install version as well as another auto update for those who are upgraded already :)

We have a new exe, same instructions as above.

This is only a temp solution until we get a full release with the code to handle minor revisions 0.9.6.1 Current system doesnt do this which and we dont want to run out of revisions and use version 1.0. So sorry for any inconvenience :oops:
