My Player missbehaves

My Player missbehaves

Postby ozziedave » 30 Jan 2016, 01:22

Ga day All, having a prob with my Third Person Player, I set it up same as DYNAMIC OBJECTS: THIRD PERSON CHARACTER: PLAYER.
The problem is that my Player moves facing towards me, when I should be looking at his back when moving forward.
I have tweaked every possible tweakable tweaker on the attached TPC Code to no avail.

Your PC-Knightress moves the way I wan't my Player to walk.

Hi Tattie Bo, Thanks for your prompt reply, what I meant was that on pressing the W Key my Player walks towards me and
on pressing the S Key he walks backwards, I want to be behind the player that is walking forward like most RPG Games.

I have been wanting to thank you for your terrific video tutorials, I have downloaded them al,l and they have been a fantastic
help in learning most aspects of Skyline.

Hey Buddy,

Firstly welcome to Skyline :D

I'm wondering if your character is set up wrongly in the modelling tool (i.e. z-axis facing the wrong way)?

If you have access to the modelling software used to create the character, try flipping the z-axis and saving the model. If you don't then you could try using UltimateUnwrap ( well worth the money imho ;) ). Failing that, you could try the "Mesh Editor" in Skyline (I've never really used it, so can't say how easy it is  but it should be just a matter of rotating your character 180 degrees around the y-axis).

BTW I'm not great at modelling myself, so may be wrong about the above, but it's worth a shot!

Regards

Np m8 ;) yea you can achieve the same result but in the case that the rotation is off you will need to rotate it using modeling software like shando said or do it from inside skyline this way has saved me a lot of time as a lot of models you buy online are like this  anyway I done a small video that should sort you out and if that fails send the model over and I will rotate it for you ;)

If you are using the player character controller action like the black Knightress, then try to flip the direction on the properties found under the first or second header of the action properties.

Or like many of our users have said, simply rotate the Base mesh 180 using the mesh editor tool.

Thanks everyone for chipping in and helping :)

Sorry for posting again.

@Tattie, in your video using the mesh editor. You want to set the "Rotation Angle" to 180 and leave the rotation Axis as 0 1 0 to signify rotation on the Y Axis. Apart from that, all good! :D

no worries, these things are easy to forget. Its when one of us devs go to use a feature and can't use it. LOL :P It definitely shows that we need to improve that feature when we have that problem hehe :P

G'day g'day, how ya goin' Many thanks to Shando, Solarportal, and a special thanks to Tattie Bo for the Helpful Video.
After reading all posts the problem was SOLVED in the Mesh Editor. So glad I didn't have to revert to fragMotion to
get a fix.

I guess I am going through a teething time like you all have, I always try to read previous posts before asking questions.

Cheers
