Help and advice for Installing Skylines Toolset

openAL not found

openAL not found

Postby PaRaDoXoS » 17 Mar 2016, 10:14

Hello,
Yesterday I downloaded the Installer for the free Version of Skyline just to play around with it a little.
It successfully installed vcredist and physix, but then "failed" at openAL. I have a openal.dll in C:\Windows\System32, freshly installed (date of file), but the Skyline installer does not find it. I'm working with Win7 64-Bit.
Is there some way to trick the installer into proceeding? Or point it to the correct location? Or copy the dll to where the installer expects it?

Regards,

Thanks, I didn't realize that could work. Just noticed the grayed-out "next". I'll check it out later.

Just wanted to give a quick reply.
Installation worked as described, audio (even though not found by the installer) works, too.

The crashes I experienced are already reported. Hope not too many will follow :-(

Skyline is in beta which means you will inevitably find another crash. We do our best to work with you and fix the errors the best we can, but we are a 2 person team so time can be stretched atm with the new renderer being developed and the game mechanics being worked on. :)

Had the same issue.

Go to https://www.openal.org/downloads/ and download the OpanAL Core sdk.

Unzip and install. No more crashes for me.
