Some Issues with FPS

Some Issues with FPS

Postby Shando » 30 Dec 2014, 06:24

Hi All,

Just a few relatively minor things I've picked up:

1) There doesn't appear to be a "die" animation for Orcs? They just keep replaying the same animation over and over when they die, rather than playing the animation once, and then lying flat with no animation??

2) There are a couple of Weapon fx "not found" errors in the log, these appear to be related to the default particles in the Weapon Editor (mp2_explosion_26.pu & mp_bullettrail_05_large_b.pu)??

3) I have about 10 Orc NPCs in the level. The first one dies relatively easily, but every one after that seems to only take 1 damage per bullet?? Even with 4 Ammo Crates, and 4 Health pickups, I can hardly get past the first 5!!

BTW I'm just using the default NPC & FPS Player.

Everything else is pretty cool from what I've seen so far 8-)

Regards

cool, glad your into it.

The die animation should only play once per ork.
They do hover above the ground a little though and there is no animation when ko'd.
Perhaps a fluke where the animations got locked on.

if you pick up the ammo crates, i think they might be reducing the power of your weapon.
make sure they are ammo type, not weapon type in properties. lol :P

if you want to do more damage, go to "view->editor->weapons editor". or click on "FPS player->properties->weapon edit".
go to "sky_hit_orig" and change the power amount, the weapons are fully customizable.

the health works, but when shot, it goes back to the level of health you were before.

As for the weapon FX not being found is a bit strange. Are you seeing all the correct effects as the ones in the templates worked for us as we were testing the deployment packages. All we know is that the orcs and some particles cannot be exported to end game as they are part of an .ark file(end game uses .pak), which cannot be used in end game. The orks and particle effects would need purchased from the original owners.

All these things will be fixed when we go back to work.

BTW to all users: Particle Universe is now free and MIT license, go grab your copy: http://www.fxpression.com/

Hi again,

I can live with the Orc floating for now ;)

I checked into the ammo crate issue - looks like the preset is set to "D2" and "Weapon", whereas the FPS gun is "sky_hit_orig", hence the difference in damage (1 vs 4). Unfortunately, I can't seem to change the values in the Properties panel (because it's a preset??), so I just changed "D2" to match "sky_hit_orig" as a temporary workaround.

Finally, all effects appear to be OK when running in the Editor, it's just that I noticed the errors in the log, so not 100% sure if I am seeing all of the effects??

Anyway, hope you have a great New Year :P

Shando

TO ALL USERS: make sure you grab Particle Universe as it has some superb effects 8-) for example, my wall torches now have a wonderful flame effect :D (I'll be uploading a small video later today)

The weapons file is stored per scene. Before changing weapon properties, make sure to select in the list first even if it shows selected otherwise changes are not seen. Known bug.

Change "Weapon" to "Ammo" on the crate for it to become an ammo crate. Read the player script to get correct spelling.

Hope you have a great new year aswell :D
